missional communities

Missional Communities (MCs) are groups of families and individuals, usually between 20-50 people who gather together regularly as an extended family (what we call “Oikos” – the Greek word for “family”) and live out the balanced life we see in Jesus’ life of UPour relationship with God, INOur relationship with each other, and OUTOur mission to serve others in the community.

There are currently 2 active MCs at the Bridge but more are coming in the near future.

(Live, Lead, Laugh, Love OUT LOUD)

This MC is crazy about “oikos”!! You could call us a little oikrazy!! We want to live life connected to each other, and learn and grow in faith and leadership together, share a meal, laugh a lot, and love God, one another, and the world OUT LOUD!

Our network of relationships is mostly comprised of families with High school and Middle school youth (and their parents and siblings, of course!), as well as people who have a heart for youth. Our desire is to connect youth aged students in a meaningful way that will help them grow in character, service, and spiritual maturity and equip them to keep their faith alive and vibrant well into their adult years.

This is the passage we want to live by:

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching” Hebrews 10:24-25

We meet approximately 3 Sunday evenings per month from 6-8 pm at Curt and Lisa DeKryger’s home. Please contact Lisa DeKryger at 269-720-2103 if you are interested in getting involved.

 Maple Street Oikos MC

The Maple Street Oikos MC has been called, “a place of leftover love,” meaning that this is a place where everyone immediately feels welcomed and loved, just as they are.

We meet at the home of Roger and Michele Bird on Sunday evenings from 6-7:30 pm and our mission is to intentionally gather the disenfranchised (basically any person who feels that they have no place in the traditional church), and to provide space for EVERYONE to experience the joy of the living God and family.

We worship and pray, we eat and we laugh (a lot), and we care for one another as we learn to be more like Jesus.  Family is what we do.  Family is who we are.  And we’d love for you to be a part of this growing family with us!

For more information contact Roger Bird at roger@thebridgeinallegan.com.
